From the west coast, California (USA), on television watching
from around the World various Nations celebrate the
birth of the New Year 2001 and 3rd Millennium...

Yes, dinners, dances and celebrations going on late into
the early morning hours and then spectacular events such
as seeing the Rose Parade live or on television as well as many
special college football games.
It wasn't like folks didn't have
something to keep their attention. But!

The word or rumor had gotten out...
And... in the late evening hours...
Around... 9:30 - 10:00 P.M. December 30, 2000...
along with 6 volunteers who were there
to help set up for the for the Owens Art Millennium Event...
came... walk-in public out of what seemed, no-where!

As I recall, one or two explained they were just riding with
over with a friend to see what was going on... and had other
things to do... but... all seemed interested in the paintings.
And, especially one or two wanting to
know about the paintings meanings or messages.

The best I can recollect... from that time on...
Other than to for one of them leaving (Russell Faber)
for a few minutes to get a digital camera... Then upon returning,
Russell, ended up taking many pictures over approximate 30 hours...
And... the others stayed to volunteering (at one time or another)
behind the video cameras or continually keep the place speck and span.

And... of if one of them happen to leave if necessary
they do so to get food or to refresh themselves or to
go home and get a change of clothing...
Some even brought back more people with them...
Other than that... they all participated...
through the entire event..

Never once... was anyone asked to stay... Nor asked to donate funds...
No one was asked to supply food nor soda pop or fresh bottle water...
Credit where it's due!
On their own the volunteers, walk-in public and independent witnesses
thought to and supplied all that was ever needed!
There was a lot supplied and none went to waste...
Including laughter and kindness a plenty being shared all around!

I was able to ... and to this day... have the signatures...
of some of those that attended the event...
Unusual as it may seem... it was my choice!
On the 3rd Millennium paintings I even have some of the
signatures of those who I attended the event.. and were next to me
as I completed a 3rd Millennium painting and I allowed them
Along with my signature
... to ...
sign on the back of the Fredrix flat panel canvas
they witnessed me, David C. Owens, start the painting
at the exact time and date documented...

I can't begin to explain how much it stresses me
that with my lack of memory... in no way I'm
I able to give credit to all the hundreds of
wonderful people that showed up for the event.
